Common questions.

How does PlayOver detect music links on Windows?
PlayOver monitors your clipboard in the background. When you copy a music link from any supported streaming service, PlayOver recognises it and shows a small popup near your cursor with the song details and platform options. It does not read or store any other clipboard content.
The popup isn't appearing when I copy a link. What should I do?
First, check that PlayOver is running โ€” look for its icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your taskbar). If it's not there, launch PlayOver from the Start menu. If the icon is there but the popup still isn't showing, try right-clicking the tray icon and selecting Restart. If the issue continues, try uninstalling and reinstalling PlayOver.
Windows showed a SmartScreen warning. Is PlayOver safe?
Yes, it's safe. Windows SmartScreen warns about apps from publishers who haven't yet accumulated enough installs to build a reputation with Microsoft. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to proceed. PlayOver is open-source and you can view the code on GitHub at github.com/playoverhq/playover-windows.
Which apps and browsers does PlayOver work with?
PlayOver works with any application that allows you to copy a link to the clipboard. This includes all major browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave), Discord, Slack, WhatsApp Desktop, messaging apps, and anything else where you can press Ctrl+C on a link.
How do I stop PlayOver from launching at startup?
Right-click the PlayOver icon in the system tray and toggle off "Launch at startup". Alternatively, you can manage startup apps via Windows Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ Startup.
How do updates work?
PlayOver updates silently in the background. When a new version is available, it downloads and installs automatically โ€” you don't need to do anything. The update takes effect the next time PlayOver starts.
How do I uninstall PlayOver?
Go to Windows Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ Installed apps, find PlayOver, and click Uninstall. You can also use Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
What Windows version is required?
PlayOver requires Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit).
